Cryptic Crosswords from The Nation

Frank W. Lewis
May 2006     ISBN: 1560258721

"The Nation puzzles, I'm told by devotees, are considered challenging, with no help for the slow learners. That surprised me. I suppose I always assumed that crossword puzzles in The Nation would reflect the magazine's politics, and would therefore be pretty easy to master: if the answer didn't turn out to be Sacco, then it would be Vanzetti. Not so. Apparently, these puzzles are politically ecumenical. I'm told that conservative Republicans enjoy doing them. (I was relieved to learn that there's something conservative Republicans enjoy doing.)" --Calvin Trillin

Since 1947 Frank Lewis's weekly crossword puzzles have been one of the most abiding and popular features of America's leading progressive publication, The Nation. This new collection of Lewis's work--the first in over a decade--will delight crossword puzzlers of all political stripes with Lewis's trademark cryptic, punning and anagrammatic style.
